Virus/Malware in Virtue ?

    Hello

    At the beginning, great congratulations for autors – the great templates WordPress :). They are great – even in the free version.

    However, I have a problem with Virtue. Both their own scan (two independent programs) and scans of external companies showed many irregularities in the file structure. The template installation on a clean WP shows about 14 infected “.php” files. The amount of “infected” files practically every day increases systematically by infecting other files.

    By looking at the file code you can actually find weird entries, functions and a web or IP address.

    Please explain what this may be due to. We would not like to buy the premium version with infected files.

    Hey,
    Sounds like you have a virus/malware on your server.
    I suggest you contact your hosting provider first. You don’t know how wide spread it is and you may need to clean the whole server or if your on a shared it’s possible it’s not just contained on your account.

    To get your site back working, some times the easiest thing is to restore your site from a backup that doesn’t have any marlware. But if that isn’t an option then you need to go through and reinstall all the files.

    This is a good time to recreate all passwords and check with your security plugins to make sure you are hardening WordPress security.

    Make sure you have everything updated. It’s good to be able to compare with files here like by downloading the theme file directly from here and comparing with whats on your server.

    Thanks for the quick response. The server is 100% clean (virtual machine) set from the beginning. Interestingly, pure WP plus Virtue also shows the threat. I’m in the middle of next tests. Submit the results soon.

    At the moment I can say that there is a relationship between “harmful” files and the latest version of WP 5.2.1. In the older version they also appear, but there are not so many of them. I intall some of the virtual machines and I will test different combinations. Tomorrow I will write something more.

    Everything checked and tested on 7 virtual machines and various versions / options and settings of WP (various plugins and add-ons) … by 3 groups on 3 different hosting sites. All detected “threats” are false. Simply WP after the update puts a lot of unnecessary “garbage” to already installed plugins or templates, causing alerts in popular security programs. The more I am glad that Virtue is 100% clean !!!
