I am new to WordPress and was wondering how you view a theme you are modifying? I have been using Dreamweaver 4 for years and only have basic knowledge of html. Wanted to make some basic changes to the sidebar, etc

What is a recommended web site design software these days compatible with WordPress

themedreamer (google it) says its compatible with dreamweaver, and sets up a php server so you can view things live

I tend to not use any design software, set up a wamp server on my laptop, and just design a theme on a wordpress install on my test server

basically, you need to run a server somehow, so that php will run, which allows you to actually view you WP theme

The Firebug extension (http://getfirebug.com/) for Firefox (and Chrome) is fantastic for finding and viewing the exact styles etc that you are modifying. Firebug is a lifesaver in so far as time goes – wonderful! Oh, and so is Child Themes in WordPress.
