As a new author/contributor, videos will not embed..

I think I must be losing my mind. I am a new author to an existing account and I cannot get videos to embed in any post that I create. I have tried using the simple method of just putting the url and tried using the embed code from vimeo/youtube. Neither of these is working. All that shows up is the plain text of the video – I made sure the hyperlink is removed, so I know it’s not that. Could this be something to do with my level of authorship?
