videos disappeared after update
-
Please assist — videos (3) no longer visible on: http://hollandbuscompany.com/school-bus/bluebird-promotional-videos/ after updating from: 3.0.3 to 3.1.0 — no longer accessible in the Edit area either (?)…. All three videos and their Youtube URLs are gone from their Edit page! Need those back in working order.

I even heeded the warning at the top of the page upon Update:
“Attention: Maxgalleria 3.1 now uses Magnific Popup for lightboxes. Please check you galleries after upgrading. The Image Carousel Add-on requires updating to use with this new version.
Dismiss”No difference.
Hi 3cstudio,
Check your theme folder for the file single-maxgallery.php. If it is missing you can try deactivating and reactivating the plugin to copy it there. Or you can manually copy the file from your plugins/maxgalleria folder.
After you are certain that the file is in your theme folder, go to Settings->Permalinks and resave the permalinks.
The notice will go away when you click the Dismiss link.
Let us know how that works.
If this solves your issue thanks in advance for marking this thread as ‘Resolved’ so we know your question has been answered and for giving us and our plugin a rating at Maxgalleria Reviews

I did all of these things:
– Deactivated/Reactivated the plugin
– checked the theme folder to see that indeed the file: single-maxgallery.php was in place
– resaved Permalinks
– cleared all cache (server-side and site-based)
– logged out and back inNothing…
http://hollandbuscompany.com/school-bus/bluebird-promotional-videos/When I look at the editing area for that particular MaxGallery, its preview shows that there are supposedly 3 videos. But when I click to go in and edit that 3-video array, there is only a blank page after Title and Permalink — sidebar tools are present on both sides, but my MaxGalleria editable fields are completely gone (!).
Please advise asap.
Can you send me admin access to your site? My address is alan@maxfoundry.com

Sent.
When I go to your gallery in the dashboard is that nothing is there now, but a new gallery can be created. I suggest you try recreate your gallery. Or you can go back to a previous version of Maxgalleria. The old versions are here https://wordpress.org/plugins/maxgalleria/developers/
I reverted back to 3.0.3 — the same blank Edit area persists.
That’s messed up — updating to 3.1.0 wiped my gallery clean of videos (!). Now I have to go back to the client and ask if they will resend me their URLs, and also explain what went wrong (which looks bad on me, not on the nameless/faceless plugin creator whose update created the issues).
Please make corrective changes to the plugin so that this doesn’t occur again? I don’t feel confident using/updating MaxGalleria any further (on this or a half-dozen other sites it’s in use on) until it can be guaranteed to leave content/galleries fully intact and working properly again upon future updates.
Probably your URLs are still in the database, in the wp_posts tables. They would have a post parent ID of 540.
I thought of that too — why is MaxGalleria not finding them, even if I reverted to 3.0.3? And do you have any suggestions as to how to get that to reset in some fashion?
I do not know the cause of your issue. But we are not seeing any tabs on the gallery page and so that does not mean your video are missing from the database. It means that something cause the functions for that page not to load. It is likely that video URLs are still in the database.
Your best solution now is to create a new gallery.
Also, I noticed that it was not possible to get to the support page so I fixed that issue and released a new version, 3.1.1.
But we are not seeing any tabs on the gallery page and so that does not mean your video are missing from the database.
If the tabs are not visible in the Edit admin area, how does that not mean the videos are missing?
It is likely that video URLs are still in the database.
Nope. No sign of their URLs in the db — just the default thumbnail images (JPEGs) connected with the 3 videos: http://hollandbuscompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/hqdefault.jpg
Any further assistance, or am I now completely on my own?
I’m resorting to searching for videos similar to that name at Youtube to rebuild the video trio. We’ll see how it works.
At any rate, it is seriously disconcerting that an update to the plugin would potentially cause this issue… I’m not a plugin developer, so only you all can ascertain whether that is the case or not, but it makes it tough for users such as myself (on behalf of clients we have) to rely on something so finicky. Recently another client site’s MaxGalleria videos refused to even open their lightbox player ‘window’… eventually that was fixed, but not after a few days of struggles.
Please see if you can ferret out where such an issue could arise, and restore our faith in the plugin’s capabilities, even after a version update. Thanks for your assistance.
So I replaced the old videos with the new one you started named “Test”: http://hollandbuscompany.com/school-bus/bluebird-promotional-videos/ — tried to get the thumbnails to show as “landscape” instead of square, but nothing has happened, even after clearing all cache (server-side, site, browser, etc.).
Thoughts?
Also, do I now dare to update from the (reverted) version 3.0.3 to 3.1.1 (which you said you put in place upon noticing the Support link was not present in 3.1.0)?
I found the separate (per video gallery) settings under the tab Options — was trying to get the gallery to change over via: Galleria (MaxGalleria) > Settings . . . which obviously only affects new galleries going forward.
I checked for the location of the video URLs in the database I found them in the postmeta table. Sorry I did not know the exact location.
I suppose you should hold off on updating the plugin until you have tested it on a test or development site. I believe there must have been some flaw with the gallery that caused it to fail. And if we knew what the flaw was we add code to deal with it. But it is a rare event that I seldom see. Sometime these issue are caused by conflicts with other plugins. Everyone’s site setup is different. We continuously update our plugins to work in harmony with other plugins and themes.
