• I am using the plugin (both paid and free) version on a number of sites.
Unfortunately all sites with auto-update enabled broke down due to the latest update.
“There has been a critical error on this website.”
Is there any other way than disabling the plugin via FTP and get back online in order to rectify this serious error?

    Excerpt from log:

    Hi

A build issue with version 2.8.7 was discovered when it was uploaded to wordpress.org. The new version, 2.8.8, is working properly. Version 2.8.7 has been removed from the list of available versions.

I’m truly sorry for this inconvenience.

    A simple solution:

    1. Using FTP, rename the ‘smartsearchwp’ plugin folder to ‘smartsearchwp.off’
    2. Go to Installed Plugins > smartsearchwp > View Details > Update > Activate

That will sort the problem out quickly.

    Sorry again

    Thanks, JC
