Not directly. You’ll need to look at product add-on or product options plugins. There are several in the plugin directory or from premium sources.
These types of plugins allow you to express some or all attributes as add-ons, thereby geometrically reducing the number of variations. In your use case, look for one that allows add-ons to be expressed as colours or swatches. You should be able to create one swatch add-on and then add it with a click to each relevant product.
Add-ons don’t allow individual SKUs and I don’t know if that would be an issue for you.
Yes, I have almost 1000 swatches, that is not was I was referring to its just adding variation images because if you add them for say size small you need to do the same thing for Small, medium, large, 2x, 3x, etc. I guess you can just run images for the first size and forget repetitive clicking for the rest, but I just decided to stick with one images and use swatches on solid colors and sometimes add images for multicolor items.

Not with an add-on / options plugin.
So if you have 3 sizes and 3 colours that would normally be 9 variations.
With an add-on / options plugin, you would set up an add-on for the colours and then have 3 sizes + add-on = 3 variations.
