Have digital sound downloads to make available: one product in AIFF, FLAC or WAV formats. Customer to choose.

When setting the product to ‘Variable product’ in Product Data window, options to make that product downloadable, disappear. Only ‘simple’ products can be Virtual/Downloadable. This seems daft.

Why can’t digital download products be variable? Is there a workaround? Perhaps another plugin is needed.

Hi there!

You can set downloads in variable products, as well. The option moves to the variations themselves, so the different files can be set.

There’s an explanation [on the WooCommerce documentation for downloadable products](https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/#section-4).

Michael, you are a star. That makes sense.

Sorry I missed the ‘Downloadable Variations’ section. I hadn’t sussed that the product type would fork to lower down the hierarchy.
