using up resources

took me a while to single out the cause, but after the last ithemes security update my server resources usage went through the roof. both i/o and memory were at 95-99% which caused really slow loading times and lots of 500 errors.
disabling the plugin makes everything go back to normal.

anybody had similar issues or is it just me?
