• I would like readers to be able to comment or like posts on my blog, but they are required to be logged in with a WordPress account first. This is a barrier to commenting, especially if they don’t have a WordPress account.

In settings>discussion I have checked “Allow people to comment on new articles” and have not checked “Users must be registered and logged in to comment.” I cannot see how to fix this problem.

    Can you help me?

  • You didn’t include a URL to your website but I’m going to guess you are on WordPress dot com as your profile page points to one of their websites.

You’ll need to contact their support for help with that as I’m not sure how they work that part of their sites and they are a separate entity from us over here at WordPress dot org.

I think this is their help page link. https://wordpress.com/help

@jnashhawkins. Thanks for your response. My site is a WordPress installation on a hosting server, not WordPress.com. Because I need to offer the subscription field, I am using JetPack. I wonder if that is overriding the inherent WordPress settings for comments. I am quite puzzled as to why my readers have to be logged in to WordPress to comment. I appreciate you taking the time to offer help.

@ranl. Could you explain how clearing my browser cache will assist my readers’ experience in this situation?
