Why was it decided that only Administrator access can edit products under the standard User Roles? If I have a client who hires someone to edit their site, the Editor role gives them rights to edit the standard pages, but not the product pages. If I give them Shop Manager role, they can edit the products but not the standard pages (as I understand it). If I am wrong, please let me know. I think it would have been smarter to give an “editor” access to both products and pages, while Admin can still edit all. Now I have to give a hired person access to the entire site just so they can edit products? Doesn’t sound so secure to me. Anyone else have this concern?

The Shop Manager role added by WooCommerce allows the user to run the operations side of your WooCommerce store without the ability to edit back-end functionality like files and code. A manager has the same permissions as a customer, plus they’re also granted the ability to manage all settings within WooCommerce, create/edit products, and access all WooCommerce reports. They also have access to the WordPress editor capabilities.

If you need to change any capabilities of roles, there are plugins that allow for this, such as User Role Editor.
