Hi,
in wordpress you can only assign the predefined role to the user..so you need to prefer the one and apply it to the user..you can not create a new with your desired one..

i don’t need to create a new role … because i only need 1 admin and one role that could be restricted. so i just need to manipulate a role, i don’t have to create a new one. but how can i change a role in order to achieve the necessary restrictions?
Login to your dashboard
Go to settings –> General
There you will find the option: New User Default Role. Select the desired role and save.

that’s not the problem … the problem is that i need a role that restricts a user to certain categories and certain subpages … in other words i need to avoid that a user can publish posts in wrong categories or publish pages under wrong parent pages.
