Use WordPress to make a mobile application?

I was thinking about creating an iOS/Android social media application. After some research, I found out that a lot of mobile apps actually are websites that are modified to resemble an app.
My question is if such project is possible using WordPress. Am I able to design a website, then use and convert that WordPress site into a mobile application.
