• Hi there,

I am having the worst afternoon. I am new at this and after having a few successful months at wordpress I have run into a huge error and hope I haven’t compromised my blog.

I was attempting to edit my themefunctions.php file via theme editor with some new code I found that I thought would help me limit the lenth of my posts. And following the edit, I received this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/selflearnla/selflearnla.org/wp-content/themes/oulipo/functions.php on line 3

The same message appears when I attempt to access my admin panel.

I appreciate any assistance with this.

  • Download a fresh copy of your theme to your computer, Open the archive and extract functions.php. Upload this file to your wp-content/themes/theme_name folder using FTP (or use whatever file management application your host provides).

I believe that my file file management system is phpmyadmin or mysql.

Do you know how I can access the functions.php folder using which ever of these?

Is it too late to become connected with an FTP like Filezilla?

No – Phpmyadmin is your database management tool. MySQL is your database server.

It’s never too late to start using FTP and Filezilla is an excellent free FTP client.
