• I have a hosting account with godaddy. It automatically added the wordpress application there, but I am having trouble uploading and activating a new theme (downloaded for themeforest.net).

Do I still need to manually install wordpress.org? Please help!

  • Hi Kswainhart:

Lot’s of missing info in your post … are you using a FTP program to upload your new theme?

You should also be able to use the dashboard within WordPress:

    Appearance>Themes>new>upload

If you’ve tried both these methods, can you give a bit more info on the actual problem you run into?

I am using the FTP Client provided by GoDaddy to upload the theme.

When I am on wordpress, it does not have that option. So does that mean the Godaddy’s wordpress application is just with wordpress.com?

I’m sorry, I’m very new at this.

    Thanks.

    Hi Kswainhart:

I run a WP site of GoDaddy, although I installed it from scratch myself and did not use their install. Even so, their version should be a stand alone version (not on wordpress.com)

What happens when you try and upload? Does it fail or do you get an error?

Are you able to do a directory listing after your upload?

Sounds like you purchased Go Daddy’s WordPress hosting plan. @ronmerk is right, it’s not WordPress.com. This guide gives step by step instructions for uploading themes –

Let me know if this did the trick!
