Uploading images

I’m getting the message that my image

has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /home/.osten/carlgardner/headoflegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Any ideas what I can do to solve this? I’ve not had this problem before.
