Uploading file through register form / author

    Hi everybody,

    First, I would like to thank you for your great plugin, I find it easy to use, powerful and all of that mostly for free !

    I’m asking to my visitors to upload files directly into the register form. It works fine.

    What I’ve noticed is that the files uploaded through the form are considered “uploaded by = no author”. I would like them to be considered uploaded by the visitor / author that is actually registering in the form.

    I’ve seen also something about “Default author” but I don’t find it anymore and I’m not sure it would match my needs.

    I hope you’re well today!

    “No author” in this case basically means that the upload was done “anonymously” – it can’t be assigned to any user account. And it can’t be because since it’s on registration form – by default uploading visitor is not a logged-in user.

    They are only creating their account so far and for the plugin to be able to “associate” their actions (upload in this case) with username/existing user account, the uploading person would have to be logged-in to the site – which they can’t do since they are not registered active users yet.

    There’s no “default author” setting in Forminator though and I’m afraid it would require custom coding to make upload behave this way.

    Thanks for your quick answer !
    I was afraid to get this conclusion but it was the most logical.

    I’ll see to add custom code later in order to force the author to UserName even though I’m not yet used to code.
    For now, I’m looking for a way to change at least manually the author after the registration.

    Hi @beng56,

    I’m afraid that I don’t see an easy solution for this but I’ve forwarded your ticket to our Forminator team to check it out further and maybe consider adding an option to select existing fields as an author for visitors, or to have an option to set default author value.
