Uploading File not working (zip, rar)

    Hello,

    I can successfully upload a zip and rar file if its throuh the media library directly.. however when I go to my folder and with the mouse swipe the file directly on the post, I get this message:

    Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.

    Which is strange, because when I do it directly from the media library it work perfectly fine.

    How can I fix this?

    I also tried to edit the wp-config file with that line that states to allow all file types, but even after log off and login again, it does not work.

    Can you tell us where in the post you are doing this? are you trying to drag n drop the zip files on Featured Image Media Modal?

    Im dragging n drop the file on the post content
    like in the image

    However when uploading the file through media library, and then using the post media/file widget to choose that file, then it works.
    But I want to drag n drop it so that the file gets uploaded and at the same time already appear on the post content

    It seems that uploading a file from the media/file widget also doesnt work and only directly from the featured image media library model it works.

    In conclusion, it seems that uploading and drag n drop through the post widget doesnt work.

    I am unable to reproduce the issue. Drag n Drop works fine for me.
    Please try some of these tests and solutions:

    1. Switch to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the problem is still available for the new theme as well. Try 2-3 different themes.
    2. Deactivate plugins one by one and check if issues get solved on the deactivation of any of the plugins.
    3. Clear cookies & cache or try checking the issue in a new browser or incognito mode.
    4. Try a few other different zip files.

    Tried, nothing works. really really strange.
    The weirdest is, when drag n dropping just images, it works fine.

    Could it be perhaps an permission file problem? if yes, what files do you advise to try and change the permission

    I think this is a known issue, it’s already been created here https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/23510 and being discussed.

    A solution is offered by a user in that issue, He has created a plugin https://github.com/rjcalifornia/fixzip_upload to fix this issue. You can try the plugin or just copy the code snippet and use it in your child theme and check if that solution works for you.
