uploaded wordpress.com files, now image captions not working

Hi 🙂

A friend imported files from my WordPress.com blog in June. I just reuploaded and imported all my files so the blog is now up-to-date. My captions all show up odd (as html wrapping around the images). If I delete and try to re-add the image, the caption doesn’t show up at all. The changes (such as size and placement don’t update.

Should I have deleted all the old files first? If so, should I delete everything in my blog folder and do another import? I

Also, should I do the 2.7 update before or after the import? I think I have 2.5.1, but how can I check which version I have?
