I just uploaded my own theme, but when I go to Presentation – Themes, it is listed under broken themes, with the message “Template missing”. I have gone through all files, and can’t figure out what’s wrong. I have my styles.css and index.php uploaded in the appropriate theme folder, and the default index.php in my root folder. Any ideas what I might check out?

  • Um, silly question, but are those the only pages you have uploaded? Don’t you have pages named sidebar.php, header.php, footer.php, comment.php, something along those lines?

    I have uploaded style.css, index.php, sidebar.php, header.php and footer.php to this theme’s folder.

What wp version? And is the header comment stuff in the style.css file there?

Wp 2.0.5. Yes, I added my own info in the header of style.css.

Is the name of the Theme and the foldername different?
    Sometimes that may cause problems.
To avoid it, you can always add to the header part of the css file this:
    Template: foldername

Yes! That was it! Now that I added “Template: foldername”, everything works smoothly!

    Thank you!
