• when there is a large size picture i upload say 7.5 MB, but after uploading, i display it in my post with much smaller size, by choosing the medium or small size option, does it mean it will still have the same file size of 7.5 MB or much smaller?

so should i first reduce the file size outside or can i upload it as it is and if i display small, the file size will be small? i just want to prevent slow uploading of my posts and also save space in my database

if it is automatically cropped when i display small, then this saves me time. if not i will have to reduce file size outside first

I would highly recommend optimising your images prior to uploading to WordPress. Photoshop has a great save for web feature that can significantly reduce the file size of your images without sacrificing on quality too much.

Next I would also recomend you install an image optimising plugin to handle images when they are uploaded.
Both of these plugins will work well.
    EWWW Image Optimizer
    WP Smush.it

7.5mb is far to large for an image to be when loaded on a site. Ideally if image quality allows it then I would aim to make your images definitely not larger than 1mb each.
