    Hi,

Relatively new to wordpress. If I’m uploading a large file (over 2MB) via the WP upload feature, will it work?

I’ve set wordpress to allow file extension (mov in this case) and set the limit to 6MB.

Upload of JPEGs and etc works fine.

Thanks for any wisdom dropped on me.

    This is the error:

Couldn't upload your file to /home/user/www/path/to/the/upload/folder/movie.mov.

I’d upload it through FTP to make “sure” it works. That’s a huge file and it will take a long time. Best done through ftp.

    HI Lorelle,

I would def use FTP but I’m setting something up for someone that isn’t very computer savvy.

    Thanks 🙂

Even though you can customize the file size limit for WordPress, your server may also have restrictions for file sizes which can uploaded via PHP. Typically, web hosts restrict PHP uploads via file size for security reasons.
