Upload image without going through Smush

Hello guys,

Would you like to know how to upload an image to my site without going through Smush

Some images that I upload on my site is for creating LandingPages, so the images have to have good resolution. But when you upload these images, the Smush compresses each one of them and the quality drops a lot, leaving the images dazzled.

So I was wondering if this Smush option does not work (compress data) a certain image I want.

Hi @vejapixel,

This isn’t possible out of the box, and you’d need to add some additional code in your theme’s function.php or a plugin.

There is a solution posted in here: https://gist.github.com/UmeshSingla/579849c6d0e6211bf48a82ec927808fe

For this to work, you’d need to add some common term in all the images name, which you’d like to skip. For e.g. I’ve used landing_page, make sure you modify the code and file name accordingly.

Hello Umesh,

This code (https://gist.github.com/UmeshSingla/579849c6d0e6211bf48a82ec927808fe) I should put it right in function.php, or should I create a file with the name skip_smush_filename_basis.php to insert it?

I’m not a programmer, so you think it would be simple to do this? Would you like to pass me the steps of what I need to do?

@vejapixel, Sorry that it can’t be any simpler.

Here is the easiest way, go to:
https://gist.github.com/UmeshSingla/579849c6d0e6211bf48a82ec927808fe, Download the zip using “Download Zip” and you can install and activate it as a plugin.

Go to Dashboard->Plugins->Add New, On the screen click on “Upload Plugin” and upload the zip and activate the plugin. That’d work well.
