Upload and share content
-
Hi. I have been working with WordPress for some years.
I am working with a few hobby radio broadcasters and we’d like to have a central place online to share our content with ourselves (site members) and others we don’t already know.
This will be our own original content; so no copyright issues.
I have used S2Member before, a bit bloated as I recall. So I have experience of building a membership site.
It’s the uploading content and having it appear on a page featuring a list of content…
Ideally; Member logs in. fills out a field describing the audio content, uploads MP3 via the site to a DropBox folder.
Then a download link to the MP3 and description appear on a page as part of a list of content. Prefer not to have one page for each MP3.
Any ideas or suggestions please?
Many thanks.

Membership plugins typically show the site’s contents to members only. The special privilege is to see the existing content.
Forum plugins let the users create the site content. The special privilege is to post on the site.
You have to decide if you want one or the other, or to combine the two.
If you make some people Editors, they can write posts on the site, and change other people’s posts.
You might need a special role that can upload files, write posts, but not edit others’ posts. And if the audio files are uploaded normally, they will each have an attachment page. That’s how WordPress works. To do it differently, you’d need to make a custom post type or filter how audio files are handled.

You can try BuddyPress and, since it is a socially aware plugin, your users won’t have problem adapting/sharing in the site
