I keep clicking the update automatically button but it never does anything. Im not sure how to do it manually and I don’t want to severely mess up my wordpress and accidentally delete everything. Thanks for any help!

Do you see any messages? Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

– increasing the memory available to PHP?

I tired the first two but all I get when I try to update is this
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.0.1.zip…

and then nothing happens

It sounds like your server configuration won’t let you proceed past the download stage. If increasing the memory doesn’t work, you’ll have to do a manual upgrade.

Backup your files and database before proceeding.
