• I’m trying to upgrade a site for someone using WP2.2.2. It looks like the WPAU plugin will work, but I want to know if anyone has a red-flag that I should be aware of before I do this.

    FWIW-there are no plugins on the current site that effect the look/feel/function of the site.

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • You’ll need to carry out a series of smaller upgrades, so, personally, I would not use a plugin for this. People have reported success using:

    2.2.1 -> 2.3 -> 2.5 -> 2.7 -> 2.9.2

    I too have been asked to upgrade a site from 2.2.2 and found this article on the forum: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/360401
    which identifies a plugin to assist in the update.

    esmi, is it necessary to follow the upgrade path or just use the above plugin?

    The 2.2.2 site also has two plugin which are no longer supported:
    1. ST Visualize Advanced Features v0.03
    Show the advanced options button on the WYSIWYG editor all the time. Conceived by Chris Kasten. Efficient code from Mark Steel. By Chris Kasten.

    2. wp-Table v1.45
    This plugin is a simple table manager. I didn’t find anything in the web which creates the same result, for my purpose. By Alex Rabe.

    As I am unfamiliar with the initial build and the purpose of these plugins I’m concerned that the site may not function as intended. Where would I seek advice about the compatibility of these plugins?

    I am thinking about replicating the site locally and testing fully before doing this on the production site.

    Any tips and advice is most welcome.
