Hi, I’ve checked but could not find an answer about the possible issues upgrading from 13.4.1 to the newest version. Do you think that upgrade from 13.4.1 to 16.6.1 would cause any problem? If so how should I proceed. Thanks inadvance.

    Hey @aed71

We understand you’re currently using an outdated version of Yoast SEO for WordPress v13.4.1 and are thinking about updating to the latest version of v16.6.1.

Well, since you are updating from a much older version, there have been several big changes to the plugin, such as the indexables from 14.0, and lots of added features in between.

If possible, we recommend first testing out this update on a staging site, to see if there aren’t any issues when you do update from 13.4.1 to 16.6.1.

Have you ever considered setting up a staging environment for your tests? Staging sites allow you to do all the testing without impacting your production site. You can then apply the changes to the production site when all works as intended.

Your host might be able to help
Some popular web hosts offer quick setups for a staging site, so please contact your web host for assistance. They will probably be able to help you out.

Alternative options to set up a staging environment
If your web host does not offer staging sites, the WordPress plugin repository offers staging plugins, or you can create your own staging site.

If not, for your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating or removing plugins. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

Hi, I’ve upgraded the plugin in the staging server and everything seems well.

Do you think that the wpdb issue (https://developer.yoast.com/blog/yoast-seo-14-0-x/ ) fixed in the new release 16.6.1?

Where shoud I look specificly to understand if the issue (decribed in the link) has been fixed in 16.6.1?

    Thanks again.
