Upgrade & Time Post Problems

I have two questions.

1) I currently have version 2.0.4 and I’d like to upgrade to the current version. I didn’t set up the blog, so I’m worried about losing my posts and settings if I update. Can anyone tell me if I’ll lose any posts or settings if I upgrade?

2) I’d also like the time to display with each post. How can I get this to happen?

I didn’t install and configure the blog, but I’d like to do this myself instead of paying someone. Please spell everything out for me since I’m a newbie with this.
