I am trying to restore a large WooCommerce website onto a ZipWP staging environment using the free version of UpdraftPlus. The database, plugins, themes, must-use plugins and other files have restored successfully, but the issue is with the Uploads restore.

The uploads backup is split into 57 archive parts, and all 57 parts have now been uploaded into:

    /wp-content/updraft/

UpdraftPlus recognises the archive parts as “File ready”, and the restore begins unpacking. However, the restore fails during the copy stage with the error:

    Could not copy file

The failed file changes each time I retry, so it does not seem to be one specific corrupt file. Examples of failed paths include:

    uploads/wpallimport

    uploads/2024/01/default_1024X1024-1452-980x980.jpg

    uploads/2025/09/Alex-Varga-Apparel-Catalogue25-FIN.pdf

Can a large uploads backup like this be restored safely in batches, or does the full multi-archive set need to remain on the server during restore?
