UpdraftPlus Backup can’t be completed
-
Hi,
When I try to backup a site this doesn’t finish.
I get this message:
Table wp_nrt1f3hx4a_posts: Total expected rows (approximate): 13861
Anyone know why is this happening?
Cheers,

Hi JS,
Please could you send us full copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.
Best Wishes,
BryleThanks Bryle,
This is the link:

Hi jS,
It shows that the backup process is timed out or killed off.
Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.
To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 100Mb, save your settings and run a new backup.
Does the backup completes now?
If the backup still could not complete, please ask your hosts/server admin again to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.
Kind Regards,
BryleBryle,
Thanks.
I followed your suggestions and none did work.
Apparently my database especially wp_nrt1f3hx4a_posts table which is consuming 887.0 MiB
and that is, I guess, the problem. Now I am not an expert in Databases and I do not know how to fix this.
Nether I know what kind of file (post, posts, plugin..etc ) is causing this file to be that big.
The only response I got from my Hosting Support is :
“We recommend checking your database especially wp_nrt1f3hx4a_posts table which is consuming 887.0 MiB.”
Best Regards,
jS
And I forgot to mention that:
“Apparently the database looks like have already maxed out the limit which is 1GB.”
Hi,
I would suggest you investigate which plugin is creating that huge table on your database.
Also, I would recommend using a cleaning plugin to see if this can reduce the size of the table. We have a free plugin available, WP Optimze, that can be used to clean up your database.
Regards,
BryleBryle,
Thanks again.
Yesterday your plugin (WP-OPtimize) came across when I was doing some research about how to fix this.
I did install it several times but I was not able to make it work, my site crashed when I tried to use it.

I was able to reduce the Database size to 115Mb.
However If I try to recover the latest 3 posts that I had and restore through updraft I get back to 887.0 MiB of database which is almost the limit (1gb).
I don’t know if you can follow me, but…
It seems that I can not restore those 3 articles because they were saved in updraft when the database was exceeding the 1 gb limit. from the web hosting.
Is there anyway to go around these and recover those 3 articles?
Hi again,
I have tried to recover the Updraft backup I made with my latest posts. (May 7th)
But apparently I used almost all my hosting Database 1 gb limit so when I try to recover it, the restore crashes.
So I am only able to recover posts till April 23rd from server backups.
Even when I have tried to restore Updraft backups from April 23rd it crashes.
If I purchase a Support Package from your team would it be possible for them to restore this backup?
The Updraft backup from May 7th that has to be:
– Optimize 4 Tables
– Delete the Revisions (76.8% of Database storage)in order to fit my Web hosting Server’s Database storage (1Gb)
Cheers,
jS
Hi,
Apologies for the delay.
Am I correct that you contacted my colleague via our pre-sales form?
