• I have been blogging for a bit more than a year. I use WP 3.3.1 and Weaver 2.2.6.

I have never updated and I find the prospect rather daunting but I am afraid of being left behind by the programs if I don’t.

WP informs me that 3.5.1 is available and asks me to update.

Weaver has a 2.2.9, but when I clicked to look at that I discovered that it is obsolete and that I should upgrade to Weaver II.

Right now, I am backing up my database through C Panel, which I have never done before.

Is there anything else I should do before starting updates?

I am assuming that I should update WP first, and then update Weaver. Is that correct?

Actually, am I even going to be “updating” Weaver or am I actually moving to a new theme, since I would be moving out of the 2.2 series into Weaver II?

I have enjoyed WP and Weaver and I have a great deal of material on my site now. I am afraid of losing everything if I move into this process.

I welcome direction on all points of this process.

    Thank you.
