Updates are deleting my layout…

It seems like every time I update anything from Comic/Wordpress, it deletes everything I’ve ever done for my site layout (the header image is gone, fonts and colors are back to factory standard, all my widgets and text disappear). It still shows blog posts and comics, but everything else is gone. This isn’t a new problem, it’s happened before. I saved my appearance editor code so I could copy/paste it the next time that happened and save some time, but when I pasted my old code in the editor and saved, nothing changed on my site. I can’t even find where I can upload a new header image and I feel like tearing my hair out.

Is there some magic button I’m supposed to press to have this not happen? I’m sort of a comicpress noob and know close to nothing about code (and it’s also really late at night, so maybe the answer is right in front of me and I’m missing it).
