Updates

Good day! Try as I might I can’t get any updates to load successfully. The last time I tried to update Wordpess to version 3.1, it failed twice.. I can’t get any plug in to update to a newer version. I get an error message telling me that the “old plugin can’t be uninstalled”
Please help, this is very frustrating…
