    Hi Charlie,

I’m wondering if there’s a way to ‘update’ a movie, meaning fetching the latest data from TMDb. For example, TMDb has some movies that are due to be released in 2015, that are posterless or have a vague overview, so it would be helpful if i can select about 15 of them (like in Import Movie) and choose from the actions menu “Update movie”, and if a movie has a TMDb ID, it would fetch missing/updated data, if not, do nothing.

Why i need this feature is because i just found out that somehow about 1000 movies i imported few months ago (while WPMOLY was still in v1) were missing everything aside from a correct title and a poster, so i’m wondering if there’s a way i could update those automatically

    Thank you.

  • Hi DonLK,

Actually your movies aren’t really missing anything: since version 2.0 the metadata format changed and therefore all previously imported data needma little update. The plugin is supposed to let you know about that, and there is an update tool included with version 2.0, but for some reason the notification has failed on lot of casrs… I hope the incoming version 2.1 will solve this somehow. Anyways, you should be able to address the update page using a likely URL: http://yourdomain/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpmovielibrary-update-movies

This should allow you to update your movies to the new metadata format. Feel free to report anything abnormal!

Man, you’re a lifesaver. It looks like it’s working, it’s a long list. Thank you so much.

Wait, it just finished now, all the data are still missing, no overview no release date… etc, what do i do?

EDIT: it seems like it the changes weren’t taking effect, i just opened the update page again, and all of those movies are there. There is about 1800 movie there, you think this is why? too much movies?

The updater is made to handle big lists, meaning it doesn’t try to updtw them all in the same time…

For now, try to deactivate and reactivate the plugin, and then run the update on an handful of movies, see if datra are updated; if this doesn’t work we’ll follow up by mail to fix this.

Disabling the plugin gives an error
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 176160768 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 89 bytes) in /PATH/wp-includes/cache.php on line 621

I’m gonna follow up by email. (email sent)
