Update links on plugins have vanished

    I’ve got a site I am working on, which has 40+ updates available.
    Yet, when I view the plugins in the plug-ins list, the update links are not there. If I view them in the Updates page (accessed under Dashboard menu) there’s also no update links. The only way I can update them is to select one or more plug-ins and use the bulk action menu.

    What could cause this?

    I did try using wp-cli to do the updates (wp plugin update --all). I had to escape out of it because it was running into permissions issues. Could me escaping out of wp plugin update have caused it create this issue?

    I managed to get the update info and links to reappear. I had to disable all plug-ins. The updating info and links came back. I then re-enabled all plug-ins, and it continued to work as expected.

    I am still interested to know what might have caused this.
