• I just installed the 2.01 update from version 2.0.0 and all my home page parallax sections have disappeared. I am using a child theme and shouldn’t have to set up all these missing sections again because of the simple plugin update. Where did all these sections disappear to (colors, fonts, background, etc.)?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @koolkatdesign

    Thank you for writing in.

Please be sure that you have to save customizer settings. And if the issue still exists please let us know.

How do I do this? The update is already installed and the custom parallax settings are gone. I have another client using this theme and don’t want the same thing to happen when they install the update. This is a huge issues and the update should come with a warning. How do I fix without having to redesign the custom setting I had established before the update? I had a lot.

After the update why did the “Theme Options” submenu disappear (in the left navigation under the Appearance tab)? This is where I had previously taken a lot of time to set up all the custom settings including custom CSS (Tools tab). I thought the idea of using a child theme was to protect any customization from being overwritten when parent theme updates become available?

    Hi @koolkatdesign

    Thank you for writing in.

In the latest version of the theme, we have removed the theme option and replace it in customizer setting. But if you want your custom setting and custom CSS back of the previous version of the theme then we suggest you use this plugin which helps you to quickly and easily rollback any theme or plugin from WordPress.org to any previous (or newer) version. Below is the link of the plugin:

Then you can update the theme again. Please do contact us if it still causing a problem with you.

OK but then how do I update to the latest version without losing all my customized CSS and parallax settings again?

    Hi @koolkatdesign

    Thank you for writing in.

First of all, you have to do is make a backup for your Customized CSS and update the theme. After the theme update is complete you can add that Customized CSS on the Additional CSS section.

Please let us know if it is still causing a problem.

OK but what about ALL my customized parallax settings that don’t import with the updates?

This was the WORST experience I have EVER had with a theme update. Not only did it wipe out my custom CSS and parallax settings but it also wiped out 98% of my existing sidebar widgets.

An update as extensive as this NEEDS to come with a very large and clear warning! I thought all my customizations would be protected because I use a child theme but they were not. This has been a NIGHTMARE. Not nice!!! Shame on you!

    Hi @koolkatdesign

    Thank you for writing in.

The issue you are mentioning is quite unique to us because when you update a theme it will not erase any of the settings or the data. Furthermore, before you do any update, you must keep a backup of your site for security purposes.

However, our other clients are using the updated theme without any issues. This could be because of plugin conflict as well. Please be sure that you deactivate the not recommended a plugin.

I ALWAYS take a backup before updating anything + one every day. I also have the last week’s worth archived in the cloud. I tried restoring from several back-ups from the days before this issue occurred (after updating the theme). I have also rolled back the plugins that were updated during this time frame and yet the text sidebar widgets are still gone. The only ones that remained are the custom HTML widgets. I lost over 50 sidebar boxes (some active and some inactive). I contacted the hosting support team and they checked the server for errors but there are none. Are there known plugin conflicts with your theme that I should avoid? If so they weren’t an issue before this latest update. My fear is that now the data is gone from the database so I’ve started to recreate all the missing text widgets.

Actually, KoolKatDesign is not the only one experiencing this issue. I had the same exact problem and came searching online for the answer. Extremely frustrating.

What is the “Required Plugins” warning that showed up after this latest update? I don’t want or need to use any of the three listed: Elementor Page Builder, Contact Form 7 and WooCommerce. Will the site function ok without them installed?

    Hi there,

    Thank you for writing back,

The required plugins need when you try to import the demo data on a fresh site. If you do not want to make your site with the eCommerce features then you ignore the woocommerce plugin. Contact form is used to create a contact section and the Elementor plugin is for the page builder.

You are facing these issues because we have removed the theme option and moved all the options to the customizer. The reason behind this change is the WordPress soon stop supporting such old options frameworks.

Please update the latest version of the theme and go to the appearance >> customize >> parallax section >> check all the parallax sections that you have configured before using the theme options and save.

    Regards!

I have the exact same issue. After updating from 1.72 to 3 sections are broken and i cannot fix it. There is nothing available in appearance >> customize >> parallax section. I can see my menu on top since the menu is active in customizer as it was before the update, but no sections. Even when i imported a demo, no sections (no old no new sections in the parallax section menu). I need to create sections from scratch, and as i can see there is some mixup with posts, since certain sections show different posts than they used too. Thats not normal guys, setting up everything again after an update.

Also, the menus don’t work. Whatever change i make it doesn’t make a difference. Menus remain just like I had them, while i want to reorder and add one more
