This is usually a caching problem. If you’re using any caching plugin(s), please clear the cache.

Do you have any plugins that are *not* from wordpress.org? That is, any paid plugins?

Do you happen to have a .maintenance file in the root of your site?

Sorry for asking, but what do you mean by “in the root of your site” ?

In the base directory — the same one in which wp-config.php is located.

    Ok I’ve just checked,
I don’t have any file named .maintenance

scroll way down to the bottom of the updates page (dashboard->updates). Are there any translation updates listed?

Neither, I’ve been checking this also…

I created a staging environnement by cloning the site and am going to delete extensions one by one to see if it comes from extensions

Good idea, albeit a painful one. Let us know what you find.

Ok I have found the guilty guy
a plugin called WP NOTES WIDGET WRAPPER PRO, I contacted the author of the plugin who is very reactive, he should fix it…
