Update breaks theme
-
Hi,
I updated to 1.3.5 and it completely broke my header menu area, replaced my favicon with the default from the theme, replaced my logo with a the themes default.
As soon as I deactivated this Instagram plugin, everything went back to normal.
Right now I have it deactivated, any thoughts on a fix?
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,
I apologize for the issue. In order to figure out what’s causing the problem it would be useful to see the issue first hand. Is it possible to grant me access to log into the site so that I can temporarily activate the plugin and see the issue occur? That will then allow me to track down what’s causing it. If you’re willing to allow me to do that then you can contact me privately using the support form on the website. Just reference this thread so that I know what it’s in reference to.
Again, I apologize for the problem and will hopefully be able to get this fixed ASAP for you.
John
I just installed your plugin and have the exact same problem.
When the plugin is activated it puts theme settings back to default. i.e removes logo, changes header etc.
Are either of you able to grant me access to log into the WordPress admin so that I can activate the plugin and see the issue first hand? I want to get this resolved as soon as possible but don’t seem to be able to replicate the issue on my own test site. If so, please use the Support form to send me your information and include a reference to this thread so that I know what it’s in reference to.
Many thanks!
John
I was able to log into a user’s site to debug the problem and track down the cause. I’ll be pushing out an update shortly with a fix.
John
I’ve just pushed out a fix in version 1.3.6. Could you update and let me know whether it fixes the issue for you? I really apologize for the issue and any inconvenience.
John
Hi John,
Sorry I didn’t get you login access earlier, but it looks like you were able to diagnose it.
I’ve reactivated the plugin and everything looks great!
Thank you for taking the time to look at this issue.
Cheers,
MikeNo probs Mike, glad to hear that everything is working correctly again. Sorry for the issue!
Have a great weekend,
John
Hi John,
Hope you are doing well.
I have got exactly the same problem.
Please check this link: http://www.conexaoamsterdam.com.br/ and see that the Instagram widget is corrupted too.Could you please take a look at it?
Thanks a lot.
Hugo
Hey Hugo,
It looks like this is a different issue related to your photos having double quotes in their captions. I’ve just pushed out an update to fix this. Could you try updating to version 1.3.7 and let me know whether it solves the problem?
I hope you’re having a good weekend,
John
Hi John,
Thanks a lot for your very quick response.
Unfortunately the problem is not resolved yet. I have tried two things:1) Installed the fix > I waited a couple of minutes (around 15min) > No changes, meaning still with the problem on the broken theme > I deactivated the plugin and activated it again and even though it did not work
2) Then I deleted the plugin and re-installed it completely new > The same result, the theme seems to be broken
Could you take a look again?
Do you think there is some incompatibility between my WP template and the plugin?Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best
HugoHey Hugo,
I’m wondering whether the old version was cached by your site. I tested with your Instagram feed during development, and again just now, and it appears to be working correctly with your page: http://snag.gy/5hWtM.jpg. When viewing your page source I can see that you’re using W3 Total Cache to concatenate all of the plugin JavaScript files, and so it’s likely that the old plugin JavaScript is still cached in that file. Could you try emptying/purging the site cache in W3TC and then letting me know whether that solves the problem?
John
And, you were absolutely correct. Everything looks amazing now.
Thanks a lot
HugoAwesome, glad to hear that Hugo π Just let me know if you have any other issues in future.
John
