• Strangely enough, the update badge won’t update in my WordPress Dashboard or admin bar. It’s stuck at the number 6.

All my plugins, themes, core, etc are up-to-date and the badge will sometimes disappear when there actually is an update I’m done with but it keeps reverting back to 6. I’ve repaired my database tables, the Dashboard isn’t cached.

Okay, I installed the Hotfix plugin and it appears to have resolved the incorrect badge number issue. So hopefully whatever it fixed gets resolved in WP 3.3.2

I spoke too soon. Just checked my WordPress site today and the badge number is stuck at ‘7.’

What “update badge” are you talking about?

The number in a circle that appears next to the Dashboard sidebar choices of ‘Updates’ and ‘Plugins’ whenever a plugin or theme (in the case of Updates menu) needs to be updated.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

My WordPress happens to have this problem too.
