Unprintable characters in posts

Hi, this problem has just cropped up, I think because of a recent upgrade to Jetpack or WP. Some of my posts are now showing unprintable characters where they used to show hyphens, quotes, and other punctuations. I will try to reprint one of them here, which is supposed to say “I’ve seen thousands”

This is wrong

```
You have that set so any IE will be processed as IE7.
Character set should be content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"

Hi kmessinger, I really thought that would fix it, based on what I’ve read elsewhere, but it didn’t. Thank you for the suggestion. Let’s try something else.

that theme is outdated so you should use another…switch to default unedited theme to test.

Hi again, and thank you for the suggestion. I’m running the latest WP, and switched to its default theme, and had the same unprintable characters.

So, I am guessing these characters are actually in the text, and what I need now is some kind of filter that can read through all my posts to search and replace these.

When I do this by hand it solves the problem. Anyone know of such a tool?

Do not use this plugin without a backup just done. Read about if fully and understand using it wrong can break your site, which may be unrecoverable with a db backup.
