Unknown file in wp-includes/certificates

    Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/certificates/f8226efc61720b65.crt
    Type: File

    Received this in a scan today. I see the file was either edited or added on 3/9. Any idea what would cause a certificate to be added or edited?

    Hi @tomn68,

    The default WordPress installation does not create additional certificates within that folder. (It just has ca-bundle.crt)

    Can you list all the active plugins you have installed? It’s possible you have a plugin that adds SSL to your site (and that plugin created that certificate).

    Yeah it could be Really Simple SSL. But haven’t been able to find anything about the plugin doing that.
