Unknown Error Browsing Plugins/Jetpack Broken

I’ve been having problems with Jetpack stats and twitter linking, so in an attempt to fix it I uninstalled Jetpack. Upon attempting a reinstall I get an Unknown error when trying to search for plugins or themes – disabled plugins and gone through settings with host and all is good at my end.

I manually reinstalled jetpack 3.6 using FTP and I tried connecting to WordPress.com and am getting “WordPress.com is currently having problems and is unable to fuel up your Jetpack. Please try again later.
Error Details: 404″ so it seems to be at the WP end

As I’m typing this it seems that WP Plugin and Theme search is back but Jetpack is still unable to link to WP.com.
