    I have been trying to configure AddToAny with the following options:

    1. Small Icon size
    2. No Standalone Buttons
    3. Universal Button with ‘Share’ text alongside (1st option)

    However when I choose this configuration, the Universal Button is duplicated. An additional icon is displayed to the right of the background image of the a tag, which is being generated by the following code:

    <span class="a2a_img a2a_i_a2a"></span>

    If I set the display of this span to ‘none’, the Universal Share Menu does not function, so clearly this span is required.

    This extra Universal Button does not appear when there is at least one Standalone Button selected.

    Am I to understand there is no way to have just a simple Universal Button and ‘Share’ text on its own?

  • I am also having this same issue. I will let you know if I resolve it. Subscribing here in case someone else finds a fix first.

    OK, so that didint take me long. Not the most elegant solution, but it works.

    a.a2a_dd.addtoany_share_save {
    padding: 0 4px !important;
    }

    Many thanks, Andrew.

    That doesn’t quite fix it for me, because it forces the second icon to move to the left and cover the first, and I’ve replaced the default Universal icon with a custom one, which ends up covered by the duplicated icon, still the original. Also the link text is still displaying below the icon, rather than to the right.

    However your CSS approach did lead me to find a fix that does work. Here’s what I found:

    The CSS fix is to reset the background image of the <span> to the same image as the <a> as follows:

    .a2a_menu span, .a2a_img { background: url("http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/add-to-any/favicon.png"); }

    Also we need to reset the display property of the <span> to inline (requires the ‘!important’ qualifier):

    .a2a_img, .a2a_svg { display: inline !important; }

    This is clearly a bug. We can’t be the only users to have opted for the Universal Button with no Services.

    This is the most configurable and user-friendly Share plugin I’ve found, but issues like this take hours of work and let it down.

    Let’s hope the issue can be sorted for the release of the next version.

    This is a known issue. Thanks for reporting and diving into workarounds.

    The easiest immediate workaround is to go to AddToAny’s settings panel and wrap your universal button text in a <span>, for example:
    <span>Share</span>

    The next plugin release will incorporate this fix natively.
