Unable to update WP or plugins

    I was unable to install plugins in a new theme so I loaded them manually. Worked until plugins needed to be updated. Now I find I cannot up date to WP 4.6.1 OR update any plugins automatically or manually. I’ve checked the permissions through FTP and they all appear to be RWE for plugins.
