Unable to save changes made to "widgets"

I have a few “text” widgets on my home page. Normally, if I edit one of these boxes and click on save the “gray circle” to the left of the “save” button spins a couple of times and the new information is saved. Not anymore, once I click on the “save” button that “gray circle” spins and spins and never stops. Thus the changes are never saved. How do I fix this.
