Ubuntu not one of our mainly supported operating systems. We’re working on it.
2 suggestions. First we’re launching an update today or tomorrow for our wordpress plugin. Please try that first and see if it resolves your issues.
Also go to mailvu.com and test recording there. This is a totally different service and if it won’t work there then its a local problem.
Finally you can try to embed our web application. See vidrack.com/embed
And finally you could try a video recorder landing page. See vidrack.com/pages
Quick update. I tried on a Windows based machine using Chrome and everything works fine. I did notice I had a second prompt to allow access to the microphone the first time I tried it on Windows. Never got a second prompt on Ubuntu to my knowledge.
Same issue using mailvu.com. It works on Windows, but not Ubuntu.
I do realise I may have tested this before the updated plugin was released. Will check back in a day or two.
Hey sounds good thanks for letting me know!
Chrome always requests additional permission for access to camera and mic. Im not sure why but only Chrome does this and there is no way for us around it. We’re going to try and build something that recognizes chrome and helps the user with the double webcam permission issue.
Thanks for your feedback!
Updated the plugin this morning and retested. Still no sound when recording on an Ubuntu machine. All of the settings within Chrome are identical to those on the Windows PC that does record sound successfully.
Oh I retested using a separate Chrome profile and I can confirm that I did get the second prompt in Ubuntu.
