• I apologize in advance if this is redundant for you folks. This is my first foray into the WP world, and I’m about to chuck my pc through the window.

So, I’m hosted through domain.com. I was able to install WordPress via the control panel. I log into WordPress, and attempt to install a theme. This hosting site does not allow for FTP upgrading (or if it does, I have no clue how to do it, and they do not support that sort of help). So I have to use this theme and plug in uploader in WP.

I open up my theme folder that I unzipped, choose a file (since I can’t upload the entire folder), and one of two things keeps happening:

    1. The folder is unzipped. And I’m not even trying to upload a folder, but a file within the folder.
    2. I have no access to any sort of wp-<whatever>. I have no actual wordpress folders on my host account, other than the link to my dashboard after the host company installed WP.

I would appreciate some help, the hosting company has no clue what is going on. :/

  • I’m afraid if you don’t have FTP access, then you have to use the

wp-admin/theme-install.php link under appearnce, add new themes. You can upload a theme as long as it is in .zip format.

Thank you. I was not aware I could upload them if they were zipped. I assume I must do the same for plug ins and upgrades?

Plugins can be installed and even updated automatically with a click of a button! Even wordpress software updates. The need for a ftp client isn’t as necessary anymore…

Unfortunately, that does not work for me. I’ve tried multiple times to upload and install plug ins and continue to get error after error. Thanks for the Theme assistance though! <3
