Thank you for trying my plugin. It should work with the current versions of EM and EM Pro. I’m using it on my own website http://www.guidepatrick.nl/agenda/
If you have a caching plugin as well, please make sure you empty that cache and your browser’s cache as well, just to make sure. Then reload your front-end page.
Hiding the Google Logo for example should work as this is plain css.
Have you tried deactivating other plugins to check if it clashes? If so, please let me know with what other plugin the problem occurs/resolves, so I can look into that for you.

any settings don’t seem to have any affect
I only have em and your plug in active, and am using short code [events_map]
am I right in thinking I install your plugin and adjust its settings and that’s it? or am I meant to be altering anything in the em plugin?

Yes, it does not work on a combined map (yet). Thanks for pointing that out. I will include that in the info upon the next update.
My personal problem with that is, that I cannot get the map with several locations displayed at all on my own MultiSite install, so that makes it hard for me to test the styling settings.
It also does not style the Admin side of the maps, yet…
