One of our subscribers added a new payment method, and subsequently wanted to delete their stored payment method “Stripe Link” (no longer their default payment method either). However, clicking the “Delete” button does nothing, they simply return to the page listing all stored payment methods.

    Hi @erikgeurtsplatformiqcom!

Thanks for clarifying. I understand that this issue is being experienced by your customer when they try to delete their stored Stripe Link payment method.

Could you please check with the customer and confirm the following?

    • When they click Delete, do they see any error message, either on the page or in the browser console?
    • If possible, could they record a short video showing what happens when they try to delete the payment method? For video, you may use https://loom.com or https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/.
    • Have you been able to reproduce the same issue yourself, or does it only happen for this particular customer?

Also, please share your WooCommerce → Status → System Status report and any relevant WooCommerce → Status → Logs with us. You can paste them into Pastebin and send us the link. Please enable Burn after read when creating the Pastebin so the information is automatically removed after we view it.

Once we have these details, we can investigate further.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your response. While preparing to add my notes, I used the “switch to user” plugin to work as our subscriber, and then I went to their Payment methods page, and clicked the Delete button. And much to my surprise, and contrary to many dozens of previous attempts by me and the customer earlier this week, it got deleted this time. I have absolutely no idea what changed. As far as I know we did not change anything on our site. Perhaps it was something that was fixed in Stripe’s back-end?

Link is obviously something relatively new from Stripe, and it’s entirely possible (as with anything new) it shipped with bugs that are getting fixed by Stripe. I have no way of knowing.

    Hi @erikgeurtsplatformiqcom!

Thanks for the update and for testing this again.

There was previously an issue where the Stripe Link payment method could not be disabled or removed as expected, and this was addressed in an earlier version of the Stripe extension. However, since you’re now able to successfully delete the payment method, this indicates that everything is currently working as expected.

It’s certainly possible that changes on Stripe’s side may also have contributed, but we can’t confirm that from our end.

If you run into the same issue again, please let us know and we’ll be happy to take another look and help you troubleshoot it further.

Thanks again for keeping us updated!

As mentioned, we did not update the Stripe plugin/extension between the date when we noticed this issue, and the date we managed to delete the payment after all, so it can’t have been a change in the plugin, and it must have been something Stripe did in their backend.
