The jetpac plug-in stopped working on my WordPress site (http://whitespider1066.com) it was stopping me posting to my blog using the WordPress app so I uninstalled and then reinstalled the plugin.
Now I can’t set up the jetpac plugin all I get is
“An error occurred. Please try again.”

Wordpress, plug-ins and themes are all up to date.

I have had my host look into this and they tried and then pointed me to here.

    How do I fix this?

    Hi @whitespider1066

For Jetpack to work, we need a working connection between your site and WordPress.com.

Would you please delete Jetpack and then reinstall it as a first step here? This should cycle the connection. You can follow these steps to do that:

    1. Start at **Plugins** → **Installed Plugins**.
    2. If Jetpack is currently active, click **Deactivate** to disable it. Then click **Delete** to remove it from your site:
    3. Go to **Plugins**  → **Add New**.
    4. Search for “Jetpack by WordPress.com”.
    5. Click **Install** and then **Activate**.

When Jetpack is installed, click the green **Set up Jetpack** button to reconnect.

This handy guide explains that process in more detail:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack

You shouldn’t lose any settings or any of your stats or subscribers in doing so, as that info is stored in our system here.

Additionally, I also see that your site loads over both HTTP and HTTPS. You can see this with:

    http://whitespider1066.com/
    https://whitespider1066.com/

Ideally, your site should only be loading over HTTPS as Google and other search engines will treat the HTTP and HTTPS versions as two different sites. You may also experience other issues by having the site load using both protocols. The typical setup is for HTTP to redirect to HTTPS.

Your hosting provider should be able to help resolve this issue.

Once you have addressed these two issues, let us know and we can make sure that your site is properly connected to Jetpack.

You should reach out to your host for them to help resolve this issue.`

    Done both

    Getting the same message.

    Hi @whitespider1066

Thanks for going through that! I can see that your website only loads through HTTPS now. Looking further, I can see that your XML-RPC endpoint isn’t responding correctly to our request.

To resolve this, please reach out to your hosting provider and have them whitelist our IP ranges so that Jetpack can make its requests to communicate with your website through the XML-RPC endpoint. Our IP ranges can be found below:

    https://jetpack.com/support/how-to-add-jetpack-ips-allowlist/

Let us know how this goes.

Thanks I’ll get on that tomorrow- just about to start a night shift.

Thank you both for the help so far

That sounds like a plan, @whitespider1066.

No need to reply until you’ve heard back from your host, but once you do, please let us know the results and we can help from there. Thanks!

Blue host say they have done the following “have added the Jetpack IPs to the whitelist via the .htaccess file in the account’s root directory, which should clear any IP access issues.”

    Which hasn’t solved the problem.

    Hi @whitespider1066

I can confirm that the XML-RPC endpoint issue was resolved, as there aren’t any blocks now.

Since the problem persisted, please reach out to us here by including a link to this forum thread, we’ll create a secure form to get some WP-Admin credentials from you and look further into the issue.
