Ultimate member emails not sent

Hi,

I am using Ultimate member with Jobify and WP job manager. The Ultimate member emails that are supposed to be sent to members are never sent, WordPress mails asking to create a password are sent instead. I tried installing smtp plugins to replace php emails but it didn’t work although they’re correctly configured. And wpMandrill isn’t free anymore and I don’t want to spend more money right now. Is there a good free plugin alternative? Or anything else I should try? Thank you.

p.s: after trying to fiddle with all this, now when I click on the default link sent by wordpress to create a password it sends the user to the homepage instead of the WordPress password reset window.
